I’m Kaitlin.

I really like words. Reading them, writing them, editing them, learning new ones. I could tell you I’ve always known I wanted to be a writer, but that’d be a lie. First, I wanted to be a ballerina. Then, a stay-at-home mom. A teacher. A veterinarian. A pediatrician. A news anchor. Finally, I realized I’d always loved telling stories—fiction and otherwise. I tend to be much better at expressing myself on paper (or through a digital medium, these days) than in person.

My favorite quote (which is tattooed on my forearm) reads, “Words are our most inexhaustible source of magic.” It’s spoken by Dumbledore in the last Harry Potter film. These words speak to me so boldly because I believe writing is one of the most powerful tools in the world. Through personal essays, short stories, and longer works, I plan to get as close to exhausting this tool as I can.

All that said, my lifelong writing passion is fiction, and my ultimate goal in life (however naïve and farfetched it may sound to anyone who knows how the publishing industry works) is to be a full-time novelist.
